Lyon admit Carew interest

Just days after issuing an official denial on the club website, Lyon have now
admitted contacting Norwegian targetman John Carew.
The former Valencia and Roma striker is reportedly looking for a summer move
after one season with Besitkas in the Turkish League where, despite a
difficult debut, he finished as the club’s top scorer with 13 goals.
“Lyon can confirm contacting Norwegian international John Carew,” read the
new statement on the club website. “Carew, who will turn 26 in September,
has nearly 50 international caps to his name and has played over 60 European
club matches.
“Lyon would like to stress that at this stage it is a contact similar to
that made with several other players and no follow up is envisaged.”
Paris Saint-Germain and Blackburn Rovers are also rumoured to have approached
Carew.
