FIA declares Black Flag for JPM at Indy (updated) (June 20, 2004)
Indianapolis, U.S.A. – Juan Pablo Montoya was disqualified from the United
States Grand Prix after failing to leave the grid on time when his car
stalled just before the formation lap. He was running fifth on lap 57
just after he had pitted for the last time when officials showed him the
black flag excluding him from the race.
Result: Disqualified
Fastest Lap: 1:11.255 (Lap 37 – 9th)
Chassis: FW26 – 03 (T-Car)
Maximum Temperatures: Track 41^(o)c y Ambient 26^(o)c
JPM’s race:
Formation lap: Car stalls and mechanics are unable to restart it.
Lap 1: Juan starts the race on the T-Car from the pitlane.
Lap 2: Safety car is deployed due to an accident. Juan is up to P14.
Lap 6: The race is restarted and Juan gains a position.
Lap 10: The race is neutralized once more due to an accident of Juan’s
teammate.
Lap 11: As many drivers pit, Juan stays on track and gets up to P5
Lap 17: Webber pits son Juan is up to P4.
Lap 24: Trulli pits so he is now fourth.
Lap 35: Juan pits for the first time.
Lap 36: He rejoins in sixth place.
Lap 47: Juan is back to third when other cars pit for the last time.
Lap 57: After stopping on the pits for the last time he gets a black flag and
is disqualified.
JPM said:
“I've heard that Ralf is basically OK and I am glad to know that but I feel
disappointed about my race. I had a problem at the start, which forced me
to run to the spare car, which was set for me anyway. I started from the
pit-lane and had a tough race having to climb up the field. I managed to run
as high as second, at one point, but realistically we were on for a strong
top four position but then I got the black flag. Again a bad outcome to
what seemed to be a reasonably good weekend. The only comfort is that the
car was quick today, which allowed me to catch up with the frontrunners from
the back of the field.”
Juan Pablo has flown today to Miami from where he will fly back to Europe.
What does the rulebook say?
Article 85: No change of car is permitted after the start of the race and,
any driver wishing to change car, must have got out of his original car
and left the grid before the 15 second signal which immediately precedes
the start.

FIA 在印地對 JPM 出黑旗 (更新) (2004 年六月二十日)
美國印第安那波里斯訊 - Juan Pablo Montoya 在美國大賽因為自己的戰車於暖胎
圈開始之際故障, 沒能夠及時離開停車格, 而被取消資格. 他在被工作人員舉黑旗
前剛正從 pit 出來, 開始他第 57 圈的賽程. 當時他是第五名.
結果: 取消資格
最快單圈: 1:11.255 (第 37 圈 - 第九位置)
車身: FW26 -03 (備用車)
最高溫度: Track 41^(o)c y Ambient 26^(o)c
JPM 的比賽內容:
暖胎圈: 戰車故障, 技師無法重新啟動.
第一圈: Juan 從 pit lane 駕駛備用車出發.
第二圈: Safety Car 因事故出場. Juan 排在第 14 位.
第六圈: 重新開賽, Juan 向前一名
第十圈: Safety Car 因 Juan 隊友的事故再度出現.
第11圈: 許多車都進站了, 但 Juan 仍留在場上, 升到了第五位.
第17圈: Webber 進站, Juan 升到第四.
第24圈: Trulli 進站, Juan 在第四位.
第35圈: Juan 首度進站.
第36圈: 他重回賽道, 在第六位置.
第47圈: Juan 在其他車也都陸續進最後一次站的情況下升到第三.
第57圈: 在進最後一次站後他被處以黑旗退賽.
JPM 的話:
"我很高興聽到 Ralf 基本上沒什麼問題的消息, 但對我自己的比賽感到失望. 我
的車從一開始就出了狀況而迫使我必須得跑去開為我準備了的備用車. 我從 pit-
lane 出發, 而必須努力在賽場上急起直追. 我盡了全力, 最高曾升到第二, 而無法
否認地, 我在領到黑旗時是處在一個相當安全的前四位置. 本來應該美好的週末就
這樣飛走了. 對我而言今天唯一的安慰是我的車速度相當快, 使我能在場中從後位
追上前頭的快車."
Juan Pablo 今天已經飛往邁阿密. 他會從那兒返回歐洲.
規則怎麼說?
Article 85: 在賽事開始後, 車手更換車輛的行為不被允許, 而若任何車手希望更
換車輛, 則必須在賽事開始之前的 15 秒信號響起前走出原車輛, 離開停車格.
