Juan Pablo Montoya has been handed a vote of confidence by his McLaren bosses

Colombian Montoya lost an almost certain podium finish when he was thrown out
of the race for ignoring a red light warning him not to exit the pit lane

Juan this year, he has had a bloody hard time, and we want to get to the point
where he is scoring a few points for the team.
"In the last four races he should have been on the podium, so for him it is
deeply frustrating and we have a lot of sympathy for him. I hope we can help
him to win a few races this year and I am sure we will."

Montoya joined the team alongside Finn Kimi Raikkonen this year to create what
McLaren believe is one of the best line-ups on the grid, but so far things
have not gone well for the Colombian in his new home. He arrived from his
former team Williams in confident mood having won the final race of last season
in Brazil and lost pounds over the winter in a bid to shape up and take on
Raikkonen.
He finished sixth on his debut for the team in Australia after a rain-troubled
qualifying session and fourth in Malaysia but was then ruled out for two races
when he fractured his shoulder in a sporting injury. And Whitmarsh said: "At
the start he had to get used to the team and we struggled to adapt to his
driving style but once we adapted it he was out with the accident and missed
two races.
"Since then he has had one issue after another. He would have been on the
podium in Spain were it not for a fuelling incident and he would have been on
the podium in Monaco were it not for an incident prior to the race. He would
have been on the podium at the European Grand Prix had he not been punted from
behind by Webber and he could have won this race until the incident under the
safety car."
McLaren and Montoya have agreed to share the blame for his disqualification
as the team's failure to react to the safety car period and bring him into
the pits at the same time as Raikkonen put him in a rage. His fury then caused
him not to notice the red lights calling him to stop at the end of the pit
lane when he came in one lap later and he shot past them right into the middle
of the train of cars behind the safety car.

近來.阿蒙對此相當火大,而憤怒的情緒使他沒有注意到pit line尾端叫他停車的紅燈
而且他直接從排在SC後面的車隊中間插進去
Whitmarsh admitted: "The team and Juan Pablo are very capable of frank and
open discussions, none of us are perfect, we can do a better job, the team
made a mistake and he made a mistake actually. Between us we screwed it up."
