Montoya: 'Monteiro cost me second'

  Juan Pablo Montoya has blamed Jordan driver Tiago Monteiro for his loss
of second place at Sunday's Turkish GP.

  McLaren were on their way to claiming a 1-2 but on the last lap the
Columbian driver ran wide on a turn and allowed Fernando Alonso through
to claim second place.

  "It's a bit disappointing," Montoya said.

  "I was in a difficult position yesterday in qualifying and to get fourth
on the grid was great. At the start of the race I had a bit too much
graining on my tyres so I couldn't push too hard."

  A collision on the last few laps with Monteiro damaged Montoya’s car
and he says it was this incident which forced his error on the last lap
of the Grand Prix which let Alonso in.

  "Towards the end we were just cruising and I was lapping Monteiro, then
he did to me what Verstappen did to me a few years ago and he hit me and
broke the rear diffuser which lost me all the downforce at the back.”

  The gap between Renault and McLaren in now just nine points and Montoya
knows it could have been less but for his mistake.

  ”It's really disappointing because we were looking certain for a one-two
which would have been great for the championship."
