Bridgestone to become F1's sole supplier

  Tyre manufacturer Bridgestone has today been confirmed by the FIA as
sole supplier for the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2008, 2009
and 2010. As Michelin will pull out of Formula One at the end of this
season Bridgestone will already be F1's sole tyre supplier starting next
season.

  Bridgestone was delighted with FIA's good news this afternoon. "We are
delighted to hear the FIA's decision to select Bridgestone as F1's sole
tyre supplier and we are looking forward to continuing our successful
Formula One involvement," a Bridgestone spokesperson told F1Racing.net

  Bridgestone's first involvement in Formula One was back in 1976 when
it supplied tyres to Kazzuyoshi Hoshino's Tyrrell for its home race at
Mount Fuji (Japan). In 1977 it was once again involved with supplying
tyres, but during that Grand Prix Bridgestone supplied tyres to both
Hoshino and Takahara for the Japanese Grand Prix.

  It wasn't until 1997 when Bridgestone seriously entered Formula One.
Bridgestone has won 98 races in F1 and 93 times it saw a car on its tyres
start from Pole Position.
