Ferrari's main problem : the tyres
Confirms Luca di Montezemolo

  Ferrari's President - Luca di Montezemolo - pointed the finger at their
tyre supplier Bridgestone to explain the Scuderia's lack of success this
season.

  In an interview published in the Italian daily La Repubblica, Montezemolo
mentions that it is not only the punctures on the no1 F2005 in Spain that
are to blame; it is the lack of performance of the Japanese tyres that
makes him unhappy.

  "Because of the new rules, it is more a tyre world championship than one
for car manufacturers," he said.

  "I am worried because I see after five races that we have a very
competitive car but there is a big problem with the tyres. Bridgestone were
very competitive in the last few years but with these new rules, the tyres
have an excessive role," added Luca di Montezemolo.

  "I am optimistic that the situation can improve. We have trouble to be
quick over a single lap and during the entire race distance," he said. "
I know that Bridgestone are working hard to improve the situation. It is
certainly the number one problem today and the one that worries me the
most!"

  "I knew that one day or another we would not be able to win anymore. The
satisfaction of winning will be even greater when we will be back on the
road to success. We still have the will to do it and we will show it,"
insisted the Ferrari President.

  "I consider that some of the rules introduced this year are not
appropriate for F1 and are mostly there to stop Ferrari's domination,"
concluded di Montezemolo.
