Pedro de la Rosa has played down expectations that he could replace Fernando
Alonso at McLaren in 2008.
對於在2008年頂替阿龍索，dlR減少自己的期望。
The Spaniard is the Woking based team's long-time test driver but he
acknowledges that his advancing years do not play in his favour to return to
the grid in a top seat.
dlR是麥拉倫的長期測試車手。
但是他知道自己這幾年的表現，並沒有幫他多爭取些角逐車手位子時的優勢。
"I think I had better chances one year ago," the 36-year-old, referring to
his quest to beat Lewis Hamilton to the seat alongside Alonso for 2007, told
Marca.
dlR：
"我想，去年我有個更好的機會。"
He said of last winter: "I felt very confident after racing next to Raikkonen
for eight races and was convinced I could be their official driver.
回想起去年冬天，dlR是這麼說的：
"在八場和Kimi並肩作戰的比賽後，我其實感到相當自信。
 我也相信我將會是麥拉倫的正式車手。"
"Now the situation is different; I have my feet on the ground and I know it
is going to be difficult - last year it was just a question of Hamilton or
myself. It is much more open now.
"然而現在情況不同了；我很實際，並且了解今年的爭逐將會很困難。"
"去年只有我跟HAM在搶奪車手席位；今年我的對手多了很多人。"
"It is the team's decision and I must wait," de la Rosa added.
"決定車手是誰是車隊的工作，我也只能繼續等下去。"
He has driven alongside fellow McLaren tester Gary Paffett all week in
Barcelona, lodging consistently quicker lap times.
本週的測試中，dlR持續作出比另位麥拉倫測試車手Paffett還快的成績。
"The team knows me thoroughly," de la Rosa said. "I do not feel as though I
am being tested.
dlR：
"車隊很了解我。我不認為他們是在測試我。"
"They know exactly what I can do and the only thing that interests me is to
go as fast as I can and try to help the team evolve the car.
"他們了解我的能力到哪裡。
 他們也了解我唯一感興趣的事情就是盡我所能地開車，並且幫助車隊的研發工作。"
"My positive points are that I know the team and the car perfectly and I am
consistent. On the negative side is that I am no longer twenty. These days it
is in fashion to go for young drivers but I cannot turn back time," he said.
"我的加分項目是，我了解這個車隊以及車子。在此同時，我也很穩定。"
"但是我的減分項目則是不再年輕。"
"最近的風潮是請年輕的車手出賽；但我也沒辦法扭轉時間。"
