Montagny to race in France?
Renault test driver linked to Jordan
Renault test driver Franck Montagny enjoys his role with the Championship
leaders but makes no secret of the fact that he would rather be racing. One
rumour now doing the rounds is linking the Frenchman to a seat at Jordan
Toyota for his home Grand Prix at Magny Cours.
Bernie Ecclestone has gone on record as saying that he too would like to
see a French driver on the grid this summer now that Olivier Panis, the last
French driver in the field to race, is busy in his Toyota testing role.
Narain Karthikeyan's seat at Jordan Toyota is set for the season, but the
speculation suggests that Montagny could take over Tiago Monteiro's seat in
the team as soon as the Canadian Grand Prix.
Such a move would provide a boost for Magny Cours who are working hard to
pull in a large crowd for the July 3rd event. If the rumour is correct, the
result would be a big disappointment to Tiago Monteiro who is beginning to
get the upper hand over Karthikeyan in the Jordan team.
