Minardi Sporting Director John Walton dies
Walton, 46, passes away

  John Walton passed away on Friday night

  Minardi Sporting Director John Walton has died of a heart attack aged 46,
the team confirmed on Saturday.

  Walton suffered the heart attack in the early hours of Tuesday morning
and Minardi said on Friday afternoon he was in a critical but stable
condition. However he lost his fight for his life and passed away on Friday
night.

  "The Minardi F1 Team is profoundly saddened to report that its Sporting
Director, John Walton, passed away peacefully at 23:18 last night at St
Thomas’s Hospital, in London, with his family at his bedside," the team
said in a statement.

  Walton worked for Benetton, Jordan, Arrows and Prost before joining Minardi
in 2002.
