Agassi was leading 6-2 2-0 when Grosjean became the second French player to withdraw due to injury on Day Nine after a back injury prevented women's No.4 seed Amelie Mauresmo from earlier taking the court against Colombian Fabiola Zuluaga. Agassi, the No.4 seed, broke early against Grosjean and was rarely in trouble to steam into his second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final after reaching the final four at last year's US Open. Grosjean had advanced to his second successive Australian Open quarter-final. Four-time Australian Open champion Agassi will meet the winner of the clash between Russian Marat Safin and American Andy Roddick in the semi-finals.
