Gasquet and Golovin into the final!

Who would have thought it? Teenagers Tatiana Golovin and Richard Gasquet,
the two brightest young talents in France, have made it all the way into
the final of the 2004 French Open mixed doubles.
Sixteen-year-old Tatiana, and Richard (who turns 18 in two weeks) did not
quite have the experience to go beyond the first round in the singles, but
their maturity in the mixed doubles has been a sight to behold.
The youngsters clinched their berth in the final after overcoming Russia’s
Elena Bovina and Serbo-Montenegrin Nenad Zimonjic 7-5 3-6 6-1 in front of a
large crowd on Suzanne Lenglen Court.
Tatiana and Richard will appear in their first Grand Slam final on Friday,
when they will come up against the Zimbabwean pairing of Cara and Wayne
Black (No4 seeds and 2002 champions). The brother and sister were very
impressive in their 6-2 6-0 defeat of Daniela Hantuchova and Todd
Woodbridge.
The French duo will need to be bang on form if they are to become the first
French pairing since Durr and Barclay 31 years ago to lift the Marcel-Bernard
Cup.
