Q. What do you regret most today?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Well, having lost the match.
Well, no, I'm really sad because it's over, and I think it's a pity because
I really had a chance here. I had opportunities, and I made a number of
errors in the first set.
It's sad to lose that way, particularly when you have the support of the
crowd. I got some important set points and they all started applauding.
It was really nice, and I'm really sad that it's all over.
35;1cQ. You were really unlucky on those set points. You had a let on your side,
then a ball on the line.
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Well, that's tennis. I think she played a really good
match. She's really strong, and she's improved her game since I played
her last in Miami. So I'm very disappointed.
Q. The fact that you lost those points affected you psychologically?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Well, I tried to forget. I tried to concentrate on the
next game. But as I say, she was really, really good out there; she was
better than me. I made the mistakes at the wrong time, and that's how the
match was played.
Q. Did you have a problem with your ankle?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Well, that's very important, to be able to move. When you
begin to be a bit afraid of sliding, it's a problem. I've had easy matches.
Until that point, I never had a real test. This was the test and I made
unforced errors when I shouldn't.
Q. Because you were a bit worried?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: It's true I wasn't able to train because of my ankle. I
wasn't able to train. I've been playing an hour a day in the matches and
that's it.
Q. What was your strategy to play Bovina, who has quite a special type of
game?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Well, I knew that she wasn't so good on her forehand. Her
serve is quite special because it has a very high rebound because she's so
tall. But I was trying to concentrate on my own game rather than on my
opponent, rather than on Bovina.
I think our games were comparable levels, it's just that I made some
mistakes, some errors. Maybe I lack a bit of experience, because until
that point I'd had easy matches.
Q. You tried two dropshots that gave you points that made her move around.
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Yes, the problem is that when I start on dropshots, after
that, I don't stop, and it's not my best shot. So I try to win on my serve,
on my forehand. I mustn't try to make too many dropshots.
Q. What do you think of the match between Amelie and Ivanovic, who you
played in Rome?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: I don't think it will be a problem for Amelie. Ivanovic
and I play very similar types of game, but Amelie has a very good game with
topspin. I don't think it will be a problem.
Q. What are you going to do next?
TATIANA GOLOVIN: Rest for a while, particularly my ankle. I still feel a
bit of pain. Since I sprained my ankle, I haven't stopped playing. So I
think I need a bit of rest to be ready for the rest of the season.
