last loss came to Fabrice Santoro in the QF of 2002 ATP Masters Series
Madrid). During that streak he did not lose a set (40 in a row, 41 including

* It ended Federer's 34-match winning streak against players ranked outside
the Top 100 -- his last loss to a player outside the Top 100 was to No. 110
Radek Stepanek in the 2nd RD of Gstaad in 2002.
* Gasquet is the first Frenchman to defeat a No. 1 ranked player since
Sebastien Grosjean defeated No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt in the quarterfinals of
Queen's in June 2003. At 18 years, 9 mons.
* He is also the youngest French player to beat a No. 1. It is Gasquet's
first career Top 10 victory (1-5). The last French teenager to defeat a
No. 1 was 19-year-old Henri Leconte, who beat No. 1 Ivan Lendl 6-2, 6-3
in the 3rd RD of WCT Forest Hills in May 1983.
