Nasdaq-100 Open
Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean is out of the Nasdaq 100 Open in Miami after
a 6-4 7-6 second-round defeat to America's Mardy Fish.
Despite living in Boca Raton, just an hour from Miami, Grosjean found the
unseasonably hot and humid weather hard to deal with on the court.
"The conditions were difficult and different than in Indian Wells last week,"
said Grosjean.
"The humidity was really what I minded. It didn't make it very easy to get
my game together."
Grosjean squandered a 5-2 lead in the second set, and missed two set points
on serve at 5-3.
Also out is 23rd seed Mikhail Youzhny of Russia, who lost to the Czech
Republic's Radek Stepanek.
Twenty seventh seed Andrei Pavel had to retire hurt early in the third set
against American Todd Martin.
Tim Henman, the 18th seed, was beaten 6-3 6-4 by Frenchman Nicolas Escude.
Top seed and world number one Lleyton Hewitt crashed out in straight sets
to Spain's Francisco Clavet.
In other action, qualifier Cyril Saulnier pushed sixth seed Andy Roddick
before falling 6-7 7-6 6-4.
American wildcard Robby Ginepri, who reached the quarter-finals at Indian
Wells last week, upset 16th seed Alex Corretja of Spain 4-6 7-6 6-2 to
move into the third round.
