新隊長是Escude!

Escude named captain
Former Davis Cup hero Nicolas Escude has been named as French Fed Cup captain
for the 2009 competition, replacing Georges Goven.

The first task for Escude, who landed the decisive fifth rubber in the 2001
Davis Cup Final, will be to lead France in its World Group first round tie in
February against Italy, which has won its last two ties against the French.
Twice Fed Cup champion France has fallen at the first hurdle twice in the
last three years and has had to win a World Group play-off tie to maintain
its record of never being out of the World Group.

France will play Italy in Orleans on 7-8 February. Team nominations are due
to the ITF on Wednesday 28 January.

Escude joins Mary Joe Fernandez (USA), Matej Liptak (SVK) and Severin Luthi
(SUI) as new Fed Cup captains in 2009.
