French Player Montcourt Passes Away

French tennis player Mathieu Montcourt has died during the night, aged 24.
French newspaper L’Equipe reported that Montcourt’s death had been
confirmed by Patrice Dominguez, the French Tennis Federation’s Technical
Director.
Presently, the cause of death is unknown, although radio station RMC has
reported that he suffered a pulmonary embolism.
The French Tennis Federation is expected to release a statement later today.
Paris native Montcourt was currently No. 119 in the South African Airways
2009 ATP Rankings and last month reached a career high of No. 104, shortly
after reaching the second round at Roland Garros – where he lost to No. 19
Radek Stepanek in four sets.
