Boutter broke at 6-5 to take the first set but was down 4-5 with Saretta serving to extend the match to a third. A break by Boutter and the match went to a tiebreak with the 29-year-old Frenchman, who celebrated his birthday a week ago, prevailing 7-5 with a first serve winner down the middle. This is the first ATP semifinal for Boutter since reaching the semifinal here a year ago, when he lost to 2001 champion Guillermo Canas. He is now 6-2 at this event. WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID Boutter: "I'm really playing well with my eyes and seeing the court well. I think I'm playing better than I was at this event last year [when he also reached semifinals] but not quite as well as in Hamburg last year [where he reached quarterfinals at Tennis Masters Hamburg]. After that, I had some problems with my arm and some bad luck at times last year." "I like playing here alot. I like the country, the people, the food. Morocco is not so far from France." "I'm really hitting the ball fast, not necessarily hard, but fast, so I'm conserving my energy more and that has really helped. I've been working really hard recently on my game, sometimes 5-6 hours per day, so it's paying off." Mutis: "When I was up 4-1, 30-15 in the third, I made three or four big mistakes because I didn't attack enough, I was just waiting for him to make mistakes. I still have to work on my confidence." "The match was hell because of the public, but I didn't lose because of the crowd, I lost because I made mistakes. And the point where I lost the match was not in the second set tiebreak, but in the third set when I was leading." SATURDAY MATCHES In the day's other semifinal, France's Julien Boutter is up against Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia. Boutter will be looking to reach the second ATP final of his career after losing to Roger Federer at the Breil ATP Milano Indoors in February 2001. Boutter reached a career-high rank of No. 46 last year following his quarterfinal showing at the Tennis Masters Hamburg. He is 4-0 in three set matches in Casablanca. Hrbaty has three career titles and is looking for his second ATP final on the year, having reached the final in Auckland in January, losing to Gustavo Kuerten. They have split their four meetings with Boutter winning the most recent two, but Hrbaty capturing both matches played on clay. -- Saturday's locked away on the pier Not fast enough dear. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 61.70.206.23
