Ajax agree Escude deal
Ajax finally reached agreement with Rennes for the transfer of
Julien Escude on Thursday and presented the defender with a four-year
contract.
The 23-year-old looked set to join Manchester United last season, only
to suffer sprained knee ligaments in bizarre circumstances, while walking
his dog, during a crucial stage in the negotiations.
United dropped their interest but Ajax made an approach this summer and
while the dispute over a fee may have dragged on, they have now secured
the permanent signing of the French centre-back.
Ajax have not revealed how much they will be paying Rennes for Escude,
brother of the French Davis Cup tennis player Nicolas Escude.
