餐廳名稱:Portillo's 地址: 100 W.Ontario Chicago IL 60654 (near CTA Brown Line Chicago) 電話:312-587-8910 官網:http://www.portillos.com/portillos/ 好讀網誌版: http://blog.xuite.net/smallpocket/blog/18260104 大家都說,來芝加哥一定要吃三樣食物--stuffed pizza, Chicago-style hot dog, Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich。昨天吃了stuffed pizza果真大為驚艷, 今天參觀完雪德水族館,我就決定要依著昨晚查好的資料和地圖,去尋覓另外兩樣美食。 有四個學生聽到我要去,決定當小跟班,組成美食搜尋團。 我們從Roosevelt站上車,到Brown line的Chicago站下車, 我原本打算去吃Mr. Beef的sandwich,沒想到正開心一下子就找到店之餘, 卻發現它星期天沒營業。還好原本預定的Portillo's Hot Dog就在附近, 於是我們往Ontario St.方向走,約兩個block就看到Portillo's了。 原本我打算在Mr.Beef吃sandwich,在Portillo's吃hot dog, 但既然Mr. Beef沒開,而Portillo's的beef sandwich也頗有名氣, 我們當下決定就在Portillo's一次吃兩樣。 我們共五個人,每個人點一個原味的Hot dog, 再點兩個Italian Beef Sandwich分著吃, 另外還點了一份cheese fries,這也是芝加哥很受歡迎的食物 Portillo's每個分店有不同的主題裝潢,這家的theme是30's, 40's Gangster, 果真很有味道。 所謂的cheese fries,就是薯條沾cheese醬吃,酥脆的薯條搭上cheese醬濃郁的香味, 跟沾番茄醬的味道截然不同,真的是很特別的初體驗。 薯條一份$1.55,cheese sauce一份 $0.65 Hot Dog ($2.45) Chicago-Style Hot Dog,就是純牛肉的熱狗條夾在熱麵包裡, 餡料有芥末,新鮮洋蔥碎末,紅番茄片,一大條醃漬的酸黃瓜,還有兩小條青辣椒。 重點是絕對不可以加番茄醬,否則就不是純正的芝加哥熱狗的吃法了。 以下是Wikipedia對Chicago Style Hot Dog的介紹 A Chicago-style hot dog is a steamed or boiled all-beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun, which originated in the U.S. city of Chicago, Illinois.
