一般指唯一的賣者在一個或多個市場，通過一個或多個階段，面對競爭性的消費者；與買
者壟斷（en:Monopsony）相反。壟斷者在市場上，能夠隨意調節價格與產量（不能同時調
節）。
一般認為，壟斷的基本原因是進入障礙，也就是說，壟斷者能在其市場上保持唯一賣者的
地位，是因為其它企業不能進入市場並與之競爭。進入障礙的產生壟斷的原因有三個：
* 資源壟斷：關鍵資源由一家企業擁有（如：無線電視的配音業）。

monsoon的字源可以追溯阿拉伯語的Ar. mawsim "appropriate season"

ps. 如果你有上過一些電影概論的課，你應該會聽過《波坦金戰艦》(英文翻成：The
Battleship Potemkin)這部片，那一是部在1925年俄國的電影，當時仍是黑白且無聲的電
影，不過《波坦金戰艦》這部片卻非常的紅。導演使用了很多，也應該說是最早期的
montage的手法。

劃時代的《波坦金戰艦》
1925年由艾森斯坦執導的《波坦金戰艦》，在當年廣受佳評，並被視為蘇聯蒙太奇運動的
經典作品。《波》片不論在敘事題材、剪接手法、場面調度上，皆展現了蘇聯蒙太奇的創
作精神及美學特色。
蒙太奇電影通常以革命運動的起義、罷工和其他一些鬥爭事件，作為題材的選擇
，《波坦金戰艦》為1905年著名的革命歷史故事，描述戰艦上的水手士兵因上層軍官不理
會食肉已腐爛，仍供給士兵食用，在抗議無效之下起而叛亂。影片一開始，便以海浪拍擊
岩岸和列寧的宣言「為革命而革命」的插卡字幕互剪，開啟了後段壯志滿懷的革命行動。
蒙太奇的導演深信，倘若風格的技巧能夠製造最大的衝突及爆炸性，將能更強烈
地影響觀眾，故他們經常以一種鮮明、充滿能量的方式並列鏡頭。一般而言，蒙太奇電影
比起同時期的其他型態電影拍製，包含更多的鏡頭數量，蒙太奇工作者經常將一個單獨的
動作，分割成兩個或以上的鏡頭，這些鏡頭牽涉到時間、空間、畫面的緊張狀態。
其中最著名的例證，是片中一場戲裡正在洗盤子的水手，憤怒地將盤子砸碎一個
，這個可能只發生在一剎那的姿態，被分散地以十個鏡頭表現出來，這樣的重疊鏡頭，更
加強調了叛變的行動，並且透過矛盾的空間配置，與錯亂的運動方向，觀眾被迫去建構一
個一致的時空。

ps.中文翻成士氣，morale的意思是指當你面對困難、挑戰的時候，所有擁有情緒上或
者精神上的信心、熱情、或者振奮的狀態，這就是morale的概念。
ex. Frequent failures did not affect his morale.
屢次失敗都沒有使他洩氣。
字源：一開始morale也是當作道德的行為(good conduct)，他是從古法文的moral的陰性
morale來的，而在1831年的時候開始指軍隊中的confidence，你可以把這個字聯想成軍隊
有士氣是種good conduct來方便記憶。

ps. moratorium的概念有點不好理解，必須先抓到它的核心概念，就是postone,
suspension。 moratorium 是個很正式的用語，可以用在nation、law, finance, bank上
。比方說武器採購案在政黨輪替後有了不同的意見，所以先被supspension起來了，暫緩
付款，這個suspension的動作就叫 moratorium。或者政府授權讓債務人可以延後付款給
銀行，這個suspension, postone也叫做moratorium。或是挖石油挖到一半，石油公司被
環保團體抗議，而政府要求暫止挖油，這也叫做moartorium.
字源：1875, 原政府授權讓債務人可以延後付款給銀行 from L. morari "to delay,"
from mora "pause, delay," originally "standing there thinking."
