先問一下 Penn State 的數學PhD好不好啊？
以下英文部分是我一個申請到Penn State的學姊的經驗分享(我在美國念碩一)：
Take the general GRE now. You need an 800 in math and a decent
score in the writing and verbal. If you have bad grades, then it's
more important to do well on all three sections. A strong overall
score is useful for fellowships.
這裡我想問general GRE的verbal跟AW對申請數學PhD的重要嗎？
有的教授說錄取委員會不重視general GRE，幾乎完全看subject，
John Hopkins, U. of Southern California的系主任(?)親口說的。
我時間不夠，所以如果general GRE不重要，就打算隨便讀一讀，
把重點放在subject GRE，請知道的人分享吧，3Q。
Plan to take the GRE subject test twice. There is one in
September, October, November, and April. Plan to study for one
and a half months. There are three tests released by ETS that are
available online; use them!
我不懂她為什麼說GRE subject給他考個兩次。考超過一次要怎麼算分數？
平均呢？還是取最高分呢？
Buy the Princeton review book (if you
can) on the GRE Math subject. Skim through a calculus book (like
Stewart's Transcendentals), a vector calculus book (like Davis'
Introduction to Vector Analysis), a complex analysis book (like
Shaum's Outline in Complex Analysis), an abstract algebra book,
and a linear algebra book.
這些就是她開的書單囉。喔complex analysis是不是複變數分析啊？
