25.The following appeared in the summary of a study on headaches suffered by
the residents of Mentia. "Salicylates are members of the same chemical
family as aspirin, a medicine used to treat headaches. Although many foods
are naturally rich in salicylates,for the past several decades food-
processing companies have also been adding salicylates to foods as
preservatives. This rise in the commercial use of salicylates has been
found to correlate with a steady decline in the average number of headaches
reproted by participants in our twenty-year study. Recently,food-processing
companies have found that salicylates can also be used as flavor additives
for foods. With this new use for salicylates,we can expecta continued
steady decline in the number of headaches suffered by the average citizen
of Mentia."
以下是關於Mentia民眾頭痛的研究摘要，水楊酸與治療頭痛的阿斯匹靈有相同的化學
成份，雖然有許多天然食物富含水楊酸，過去數十年，食品加工公司亦將水楊酸加入
食品中當成防腐劑，在我們20年的研究發現，水楊酸商業化使用的增加，與頭痛次數
穩定的下降有關，最近食品加工公司發現，水楊酸也可以當作食品添加調味劑來使用
，水楊酸新的使用讓我們可以預期Mentia民眾頭痛的次數持續穩定的下降
