50. "The chief benefit of the study of history is to break down the illusion
that people in one period of time are significantly different from
people who lived at any other time in history."
Argument
77. The following appeared in a memorandum from the president of Mira Vista
College to the college's board of trustees. "At nearby Green Mountain
College, which has more business courses and more job counselors than
does Mira Vista College, 90 percent of last year's graduating seniors
had job offers from prospective employers. But at Mira Vista College
last year, only 70 percent of the seniors who informed the placement
office that they would be seeking employment had found full-time jobs
within three months after graduation, and only half of these graduates
were employed in their major field of study. To help Mira Vista's
graduates find employment, we must offer more courses in business and
computer technology and hire additional job counselors to help students
with their resumès and interviewing skills."
[心得] 我大概是1點50分就到考場了，確認完基本資料之後就提早進去考，
環境還不錯，不吵 (是因為考的人很少，只有不到10個 ?)，
除了耳機帶久有點痛之外，應試人員也都很好。
我只花了兩個禮拜的時間準備 AWA，今天的結果很不理想，
文章都有完成，但字數可能不夠，也討論的不夠深入，
好像都在寫很表面的東西，
容易緊張的壞毛病也讓我忘掉很多考前背好的萬用句。
雖然還有10月的紙筆要考，但我已經開始想12月左右要出國考試了 >"<。

few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."

Argument
The following appeared in an article written by Dr. Karp, an anthropologist.
"Twenty years ago Dr. Field, a noted anthropologist, visited the island of
Tertia and concluded from his observations that children in Tertia were
reared by an entire village rather than by their own biological parents.
However, my recent interviews with children living in the group of islands
that includes Tertia show that these children spend much more time talking
about their biological parents than about other adults in the village. This
research proves that Dr. Field's conclusion about Tertian village culture is
false, and thus that the observation-centered approach to studying cultures
is invalid. Because they are using the interview-centered method, my team of
graduate students working in Tertia will establish a much more accurate
understanding of child-rearing traditions there and in other island cultures."
