Huey Lewis Surprised Gwyneth Could Sing

Huey Lewis was delighted to be cast in Duets (2000) with co star Gwyneth
Paltrow but the crooner was convinced the actress would fail to sing
well in the musical flick. Lewis and Gwyneth star in the movie which
tells the tale of a karaoke-singing father and daughter. But when Lewis
was told his singing co-star would be Paltrow he admits he felt
disappointed. Lewis says, "When I was told that I got the part I was
really happy. Then they said Gwyneth Paltrow was going to be in it and
I was like, 'good,' and they also said she could sing and I thought,
'oh right sure.'" But Lewis was stunned when he finally hooked up with
the Hollywood actress because her singing was "magical." Lewis adds,
"The first time we met it was at the studio and it was just amazing,
really magical. She sang well." And Paltrow admits she has always
loved to "sing with my girlfriends," but the Hollywood star adds she
would hate to be in the music charts. Paltrow adds, "I am really glad
that I haven't been in the charts. I think it would really weird me out
and I don't want it to happen to me."
