The fight over violent scenes in Gwyneth Paltrow's new drama Duets (2000)
has ended with her director father Bruce Paltrow agreeing to make cuts.
The film - the tale of a trio of wacky characters making their way to a
karaoke competition - will be premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in
September. Producer Kevin Jones says he's really pleased a compromise
has been reached with Duets' backers, Disney. An insider says, "The
Disney people were worried that what was a family movie could be
construed as being aimed at an adult audience. There were, as they say,
artistic differences. But both Bruce and Gwyneth are thrilled the movie
will at last be seen. It's not a big commercial blockbuster but a very
cute little tale. They are very proud of their work on it."
