ROCK SHOW
Firefighter's son Paul McCartney wanted to stage his own benefit
concert in New York to aid the families of the rescue workers and
terror victims, but instead, he will headline an already in-the-
works all-star benefit show in Manhattan. Called ''The Concert
for New York,'' the event will also feature the Who, Macy Gray,
Bon Jovi, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, The Goo Goo Dolls,
Melissa Etheridge, and India.Arie, as well as non-musical stars
Jim Carrey, Jerry Seinfeld, Gwyneth Paltrow, and John Cusack.
McCartney has also reportdedly invited the surviving members of
Led Zeppelin to reunite, but they haven't said yes yet. Hundreds
of seats will be set aside for families of emergency workers,
and proceeds will go to the Robin Hood Foundation relief fund,
the Twin Towers fund, and other charitable organizations. The
October 20 show, to take place at Madison Square Garden, will
be produced by Cablevision (which owns the Garden), Miramax,
and VH1, which will air the four-hour event live. The show will
also be webcast on AOL.
