Gwyneth Goes Au Naturel December 2, 1997 http://mrshowbiz.go.com/news/Todays_Stories/971202/paltrow12297.html We admit we were skeptical when Marie Claire magazine announced that Gwyneth Paltrow was going to be a "guest editor" on the January issue. But it seems that the former fiancee of Brad Pitt really did take her duties seriously. In September, the twenty-five-year-old actress reportedly spent three days alone on a deserted Caribbean island near Belize with no toothbrush, mirror, toilet paper, or soap—all in the name of journalism. The actress did bring along a few essentials, including a flashlight, a journal, a pound of rice, and a Swiss army knife, although she purposely left her cigarettes behind. Paltrow, who you'll recall was snapped butt-nekkid with Pitt a few years ago while vacationing at what they thought was a secluded locale, even decided to doff her drawers during her stay on the island. "I'm positive there are no paparazzi out there," she wrote in her journal, adding, "not that I'd put it past them." While she did get a little lonely, and even shed a few tears, she's glad she took on the adventure. "I have learned that I am stronger than I thought. I am braver than I thought," she writes. "I haven't missed many things or many people, but the people I've missed, I've missed a lot." Read what you will into that last statement. Paltrow, whose face appears on the cover of the January issue, is currently shooting A Perfect Murder with Michael Douglas.
