Howitt Says That, Despite U.S. Offers, He'll Stay In Britain
- StudioBriefing, 29 April 1998
Writer-Director Peter Howitt, whose Sliding Doors (1998),
starring Gwyneth Paltrow, opened in limited release last
weekend, has told the BBC's Radio 1 that he has been
fielding big money offers to lure him to Hollywood. "I've
been offered a million dollars to direct a film in
America," he said. But, he added, "I want to make another
film here -- we're very in with Intermedia films, who
funded the project (Doors). It's U.K. money and I think
it's such a vibrant time here in the U.K. and the U.K.'s
been kind to me, I don't wanna just **** off to the
States."
