HOLLYWOOD -- In the erotic thriller A Perfect Murder (opening next
Friday), Gwyneth Paltrow, 25, plays the trophy wife of 53-year-old
Michael Douglas.
When news leaked out that there was a steamy sex scene between
Paltrow and Douglas, the actress's father, producer Bruce Paltrow,
was devastated.
"We never shot a sex scene between Michael and I and one was never
planned. It was all a joke that Michael started to tease my dad
with," insists Paltrow. "Michael and my father have been friends
all their lives."
Douglas continues to be mischievous when he says, "Gwyneth sat on
my knee as a little girl. Now she's a big girl sitting on my knee."
Paltrow is aware of the controversy of so many young women being
paired with much older men in recent films. "I think this whole
Hollywood phenomenon is pretty creepy but the age difference really
works for A Perfect Murder. There's supposed to be an uncomfortable
difference in age between our characters."
Paltrow does concede that "if I was married to Michael Douglas in
real life, that would be creepy."
Since she broke up with Brad Pitt last year, Paltrow has been dating
Ben Affleck.
