Gwyneth on Ben, Brad January 15, 1999 http://mrshowbiz.go.com/news/Todays_Stories/990115/paltrow011599.html From our department of bad timing, Gwyneth Paltrow appears in the upcoming edition of Parade magazine talking about now former flame Ben Affleck. The Shakespeare In Love star says she "can't say anything about Ben" because she'd "get into such trouble," but gushes that he's "very bright and very funny." No word on how she'd describe him post-breakup. Paltrow also opens up about former fiance Brad Pitt, who has been dogged by persistent rumors lately that he and Friends star Jennifer Aniston are secretly married. "Sometimes people fall in love with people they shouldn't marry," she says. "I know people thought our relationship was about these blond, blue-eyed movie people, but we were in love. The dynamic between us was so special. Brad is a wonderful person." "All those reports about his running off and cheating couldn't be more wrong," Paltrow insists. "The breakup wasn't over that. It was clear our relationship wasn't going to work out. That's the way life goes." For the past week, Gwyneth's reps have been working overtime shooting down reports linking her romantically to her Perfect Murder co-star Viggo Mortenson, who also denies the alleged affair. Affleck, for his part, is taking solace in his new solo status by heading to Las Vegas. The Boston Herald reports that the star and his Good Will Hunting pal Matt Damon will be ringside at the MGM Grand Saturday to watch ear-biting boxer Mike Tyson try to take a piece of Frans Botha.
