Annette Bening (actress, Being Julia).
Q: What does it mean for you this time?
A: "It's exciting. I've done a few movies now, and you never know when
you're working away at one of these moments, whether it will coalesce
into something like this. As an actor, you have a lot of time working
on sets. I reflect back on the days of working, the day-to-day work
of it. It's ironic that it can turn into moments like this. I enjoy
thoroughly being recognized. I love what I do."
Q: Who will you vote for in your category?
A: (Laughs) I'll never tell!
Q: What's next?
A: I start filming Running With Scissors. in March with director Ryan Murphy.
(Nip/Tuck).
Q: What were your favorite performances this year?
A: "I think that the nominations are really on the nose. Some performances
that were missed were the women in Ray. Why those women weren't nominated
is beyond me. It's a great movie. Jamie (Foxx) is amazing and also a
terrific guy, smart and bright and so earned his stripes. Look at Jamie,
he's nominated twice, for two very difference performances. It's
well-deserved recognition. He has worked very hard to get where he is.
He's someone who, I think, is conscious of where he is and where he's
been, and that's what makes him exceptional."
