...But following attacks on Western legations in Beiging and the murder of
Europeans, military intervention led by Admiral Sir Deward Seymour crushed
the rebellion at Lang-Fang in June 1900. The Peace Commission of the
victors sentenced Princes Tuan and Fukuo to death, which sentence,
because of their imperial rank, was converted to penal servitude for life.
Prince Chuang and the Presidents of the Board of Censors and Board of
Punishment were forced to commit suicide; three other high officials
were beheaded.
