WARSAW 07 - The Badge of Courage

Justine defeated Jelena Jankovic 7-5 2-6 6-4 in three rugged sets to advance
in her second J&S Cup final in two visits. The match displayed Justine's best
assets- her courage and resilience. Sunday's final will be JH's fourth finals
appearance of the season out of five WTA tour events played. Justine's
opponent will be surprise finalist Alona Bondarenko who beat Svetlana
Kuznetsova 6-2 7-6 (6-4) in the other SF.

The first set started like a dream for Justine as she raced to a 4-0 lead in
15 minutes, but Jankovic proved why she's one of the best of the new breed in
the top 10. The Serbian took advantage of the shorter shot making replies
from the charismatic Belgian and pushed herself to level the scoreline at
4-4. Justine toiled, and reaped to break open the match at 6-5, and took the
set from Jankovic before the Serbian could force a tiebreaker

Jelena was unfazed by missed opportunites for a tiebreaker in the previous
set and played bold tennis that held Justine from converting six breakpoint
games. The second set went to the stronger, and serene Jankovic as Justine
suffered.

Justine didn't play her best sparkling tennis, but the third set was won with
sheer courage, and belief that she will prevail against Jankovic. Things
didn't look very convincing as Justine lost her 3-1 lead to Jelena. But the
champion's spirit pulled through for Justine at the most nailbiting crucial
moment when faced to serve at 4-4 immediately after missing service games,
and seeing aces emerge from Jankovic. The match finally ended after 2 hours
and 22 minutes when Justine raised the stakes and forced the Serbian to reply
with successful serves to stay alive. Jankovic couldn't answer, and folded
with an unforced error for a Henin match point.

Final Score 7-5 2-6 6-4 in 2 hours and 22 minutes
