Justine admits that her ambitions, and desires are ready; but perhaps her
body isn't up to speed right now. Flavia Pennetta played a great match; to
the best of her abilities.
"For sure she played well, but I wasn't at my best level. I wasn't moving
well, and I wasn't feeling well physically on the court. I was running a lot
and was behind my baseline the whole point, and it's difficult to win like
this."
Justine found herself a step behind in the rallies, and literally pushed back
from the baseline. In her usual fighting spirit style, Justine came to life
from losing the first set at 4-6, and dangling on a cliff's edge at 0-5 to
win back 3 games in a row. Only to be halted by the the haunting lack of good
service holds at 3-6 in the second set. Justine's doctors have advised her to
play, and to keep her physical fitness conditioning as part of her injury
mending process. The serve will still be a vulnerable point until she's truly
healed.
"My service was not good today, but that is explained in particular by the
fact why I cannot move well because of my injury. I haven't had the best
preparation the last few weeks, and it's not easy to be in a good rhythm.
It's a difficult time for me right now but I'll have to be patient."
After having an outstanding beginning with Miami, and her incredible run
toward Roland Garros; things have been not been smooth.
"I had been walking on unbeaten battlegrounds, and I had succeeded in gaining
alot of confidence. For the moment, I'm in a bit of a negative spiral. But,
confidence will return with victories."
In ten days Justine will be in Zurich, she's won there in 2003. It was in
Switzerland that she was crowned #1 for the first time in her career. Past
memories should fuel brand new wonderful ones for Justine.
