What the Haitian said in French, translated
Since I'm so late with this, I've been looking for a place to post it in
addition to the TV Show Blog… where my comment is number 127!
So for those fans of 'Heroes' who might be monitoring this discussion, here
is a transcript of the two conversations the Haitian had in French in the
last episode, "Parasite." This is a record of what I heard, together with my
translation.
At the beginning, on the pay phone off the highway —
1) With his back to the camera, while Claire is surveying their surroundings:
"J'ai la fille. Qu'est-ce que vous voulez que je fasse?" [Short pause] "Je
comprends."
Translation: "I've got the girl. What do you want me to do?" [Short pause]
"I understand."
2) Then, facing the camera, he utters one last word: "Marseille." (For those
of you who might not know, Marseille is a port city in the south of France;
it has the second largest population in the country, after Paris. I imagine
that must have been where the Haitian intended to hide Claire, under her
Canadian alias as Vivian Lewis.)
Towards the end, in Peter Petrelli's New York apartment —
Grandma Petrelli (with a VERY heavy accent): "Au moins, maintenant, elle sera
en se'curite' — mais pas gra^ce a` vous!"
The Haitian: "E'coutez, j'ai fait tout ce que j'ai pu. Elle aurait bien fini
par trouver sa propre voie."
Translation:
Grandma Petrelli : "At least now she'll be safe — no thanks to you!"
The Haitian: "Listen, I did everything I could. She would surely have found
her own way in the end."
