The Bobcats held on to some needed depth in their backcourt on Tuesday, July 18,
re-signing point guard Kevin Burleson for the 2006-07 season.
"Kevin Burleson personifies what a team player is. He works hard and is ready
whenever he is called upon to perform what is asked of him,” Bobcats General
Manager and Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. “He is a great representative
of our organization and we are pleased to have him back.”
In his rookie season, Burleson appeared in 39 games (one start) with
averages of 1.8 points, 1.2 assists and 8.7 minutes in a backup role to guards
Brevin Knight and Raymond Felton.
His best game of the season came on November 12 at Miami, when he scored a
season-high 11 points in 12 minutes. He also connected on 3-4 from the three-
point line, while recording three assists and three steals.
Burleson appeared in all five of the Bobcats games in the 2006 Orlando Pro
Summer League, with averages of 7.8 points, 4.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0
steals in 18 minutes, and helped lead Charlotte to a 3-2 record at the RDV
Sportsplex, held July 10-14.
