Defoe going nowhere
Jermain Defoe insists he will not demand a move from Tottenham Hotspur to
preserve his place in England's World Cup squad.
The pacey striker has been dropped from Spurs' starting line-up in recent
weeks, with Martin Jol preferring Mido and Robbie Keane up front.
Jol has already played down reports of a rift with the former West Ham United
ace, who has voiced a concern about losing his spot in Sven Goran Eriksson's
plans.
But though Defoe is desperate to play for England at the World Cup finals in
Germany, he is adamant it will not tempt him into leaving White Hart Lane.
Defoe is confident he can force his way back into the Tottenham starting XI
and is determined to grasp his chance once he returns to the team.
