現在表態支持 Obama 的共和黨人士說詞，有兩個理由一直出現：
1. Palin 的出線
對他們來說，選這麼一個完全不適任的副總統，非常不負責任
2. 負面選戰手段
大家都會用負面新聞，但是一直把 Obama 講成恐怖份子，
對他們來說已經超越了道德的界線，而且會把美國帶到危險的境界
(這兩天不講恐怖份子，改講共產黨 XD)
以下是 Powell 針對 Obama = Muslim 的回覆：
I'm also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what
members of the party say. And it is permitted to be said such
things as, "Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim." Well,
the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim, he's a Christian.
He's always been a Christian. But the really right answer
is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a
Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not America.
Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old
Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be
president? Yet, I have heard senior members of my own party
drop the suggestion, "He's a Muslim and he might be associated
terrorists." This is not the way we should be doing it in America.
正確答案是：他不是回教徒，他是基督徒。但是真正對的答案是：
如果他是又怎麼樣？
然後 Powell 又提到一個他在雜誌上看到的一張照片：「.... 那是一個母親
抱著她兒子的墓碑。我們可以看到這個士兵的戰勛：紫心勳章、銅星勳章。
他戰死在伊拉克，去世時才二十歲。他的墓碑上方沒有十字架、沒有大衛
之星，有的是代表回教的弦月抱星。他的名字是 Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan
他是個美國人.... John McCain 並不是個會歧視的人，可是我對黨內散發
的這些訊息，感到相當困擾。」
不過，對死忠共和黨支持者來說，Powell 的背書，絕對不可能是他對黨內
極右走向的不滿，或意識型態治國的憂心，一定是因為膚色啦！
