Friend From Macau: Black Box Recorder - The Facts of Life (Nude): Cold and groomy yet with human touch, just reminds you enough of the days in early 80s England scene. Beachwood Sparks - Beachwood Sparks (Sub Pop): From USA, Folk / Country / Psychedelic / Rock combines into a great melting pot, it makes you still feel hip for hearing such old style of music in the new era, Gram Parson in year 2000? Much more than that... Belle & Sebastian - Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant (Jeepster): Some might have the idea that this band had became a yawn and laughing stock already, but as a matter of fact, we can hear more mature melody and stronger sense in catching of melody, a band that is still worthwhile to cherish to. The Fairways - Is Everything All Right ? (Paris Caramel): One of the great found from Indie Pop scene of last year, (do not mention this term to NME, Alternative Press ...etc, they just simply don't exist in their music catergory anymore, where Major Noise and Queens of the Stone Age prevail...) just feel great to be able to enjoy such highly melodic and gentle guitar playing sound throughout the album, anyone still remember the 1st time encounter of "The Aztec Camera"? It is that great! Moose - High Ball Me (Le Grand Magistery): A band that is sadly ignored by their native press in UK, but still manage to carry on producing the greats for those die-hard listeners, an astonishingly great masterpiece, it is thrilling listening experience all the way through, whole heartedly recommended. The Aislers Set - The Last Match (Slumberland): From USA, melody and sugary-sweet guitar drowning noise mix into one, anyone still remember "Shop Assistants"? Some sound just never will be away from us. Sodastream - Look Like A Russian (Tugboat): From Australia, their melancholy sound is enchanting yet challenging, those extra-ordinary acoustic bass sound had just build up a more unique sound base for this talented band, you must hear their mini album, Practical Footwear as well in order to get the full picture, sounds like a sad and charming Belle & Sebastian. Moving Pictures - Joie de Vivre (Shelflife): From Spain, easy yet with charming touch to get you enjoy their sweet and fun sounds all the way through, Spain and Sweden are two of the countries that bought us loads of great sounds in the late 90s as well as early 2000s. St. Christopher - Golden Blue (Parasol): Just like meeting old friends, now we can really put behind their 2 terrible early albums from Vinyl Japan, this is the re-birth of St. Christopher with the guitar sound as charming as the old days, it will not change anything in the so called new music world, but it will always be appear on my own cd player... and that's why, it is my choice of year 2000. Kings of Convenience - Playing Live In A Room EP (Source): This duo is formed from a very cold country in Europe, they are playing acoustic folk pop but with the edge and challenging arrangement to make them sound great, welcome to the Simon & Garfunkel sound of the 2000s.
