A New Warning for Earth's Biodiversity......
GLAND, Switzerland, November 18, 2003 (ENS) -
The latest assessment of the world's endangered plant
and animal species paints a stark picture of
rapidly declining biodiversity across the planet.
Although scientists have only scratched the surface of
assessing all known plant and animal life
on Earth, 12,259 species are known to be threatened with extinction,
according to the 2003 Red List of Endangered Species released today
by the World Conservation Union (IUCN).
