Without Jeremy Lin the NBA suddenly feels like a crueler and more
Darwinian place. Now that the unloved kid from Harvard is gone, whom
are we supposed to root for? I’m looking down the list and I can only
see one name — Kevin Durant.
Lin一離去,NBA突然間變成一個殘酷且更加物競天擇的地方。原本不被看好的哈佛
孩子離開了，往後我們又該支持什麼人？我掃視名單，只找到一個名字──
Kevin Durant。
And as adorable as we all find that backpack, Durant is no Jeremy Lin.

Lin is the guy who sought out the putz who wrote the infamous ESPN
‘Chink in the Armor’ headline and then took him out to lunch for a
pep talk. After getting forgiven by Lin, one must have an appreciation
of how Palestine’s lepers felt about two thousand years ago.

Lin spent the bulk of his exit interview lavishing compliments on all
life-forms within the 212 area code.

“I think New York, the way the city, the fans, the writers, media,
everybody, it’s been an unbelievable journey,” Lin said.
“I would love to keep this team together as long as we can, everybody
, top to bottom.”

Jeremy Lin loves everybody, including the scum who write about sports.
I doubt even Jesus liked the writers.

Now that Lin’s gone, we already miss him terribly. He humanized the
game — and not just basketball. He handled himself with enormous
dignity and grace during what must have been a seismic upending of
his life.
現在Lin走了，我們已開始極度思念他。他使得比賽充滿人性──不僅僅是對籃
球，更始終保持驚人的尊嚴與風度面對他生命中天翻地覆的變化。
Few are yet convinced that he has a medium-term future as an NBA
starter. He’s a restricted free agent. There’s no being sure where
the story of Lin the player ends up.

Lin這個球員的故事還不確定將在何處結束。
But the story of Lin the person has folded together nicely. He leaves
his breakthrough year as he began it, humbly and with a kind word for
everyone.
不過Lin這個人的故事有個漂亮的收尾。這大爆發的一年迎向結局的方式一如
開端，他抱著謙虛的態度讚揚每一個人。
