HOUSTON — Jeremy Lin will greet his former teammates on Friday with
a fist bump and perhaps a quick embrace, which is standard NBA protocol
before the jump ball.

Whether the staged greetings are sincere is another story, but no one
will be giving Lin the silent treatment, that’s for sure. Of course,
the true test for how the Knicks feel toward the man who became a
cultural phenomenon last season will be if Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith,
Raymond Felton and the rest of the team gives Lin the “Miami
treatment.”

At the height of Linsanity, the Miami Heat executed a game plan that

about the Knicks’ new point guard.....

Considering Lin’s controversial departure from New York and some of

The Knicks, coming off Wednesday’s loss at Dallas, are 8-2 entering
Friday’s game against the Houston Rockets. The record supports the
decision made by Garden chairman James Dolan not to re-sign Lin. In
fact, the Knicks are flourishing under Felton, the new starting point
guard, and future Hall of Fame playmaker Jason Kidd.

Anthony, of course, did complain last season about Mike D’Antoni’s

Knicks went 8-9. That record, plus Anthony’s reluctance to take on a
lesser role, contributed to D’Antoni leaving and might have influenced
Dolan’s decision not to match the three-year, $25 million offer sheet
Lin received from the Rockets in July.

Anthony was famously quoted calling the contract “ridiculous.” He
maintains his issue was with the so-called poison pill that calls for
Lin to receive $14.9 million in the third year.

“It was taken out of context,” Anthony said. “When I said ‘ridiculous’
it was the way that they set the contract up, set the money up, and put

Still, there seemed to be underlying resentment because Lin had started
just 25 games. Smith admitted that Lin’s contract could have
potentially created issues within the locker room. That supported the
theory that some Knicks were jealous of Lin’s instant and incredible
popularity.

Chandler quickly developed a rapport with Lin on and off the court and

summer in Los Angeles to reiterate their hope that he would return.

barely played half a season earlier this year while, “I’ve been in
this league way longer. I’ve got (a bigger) body of work. He had a
great run last year, one of the best I’ve ever seen. I’m glad he got
his money. I’m glad he had a lot of success. That part I would never
hate on him about. But to compare me and him, we’re two different
people, two different players.”

Lin is still adjusting to a new system in Houston as well as a new
star teammate in James Harden. The Rockets are 5-7 and Lin is averaging
10 points and 6.3 assists and shooting just 33%. There’s nothing
Linsanity about that.

林還在適應火箭的新體系，也和新隊友哈登處在磨合階段。火箭目前5勝7敗，而林則是平
均每場10分、6.3次助攻和33%的命中率。不怎麼瘋狂的數據。

“Honestly, that’s Jeremy’s situation,” Smith said.

“I don’t care about Jeremy’s situation. He doesn’t wear a Knicks
uniform anymore.”
