Rockets-Blazers: Five things we learned from Game 1

我們在第一場比賽學到的五點教訓

1. The Rockets don’t have an answer for LaMarcus Aldridge. Not that we didn’
t know that already but Aldridge’s 46 points and 18 rebounds brought home
the point. He had his way with Terrence Jones, then Omer Asik, then Dwight
Howard. About the only guy he didn’t beat was Hakeem Olajuwon, the 1993-94
MVP who was seated next to Rockets owner Les Alexander.

2. Free throws and Dwight Howard, a 50-50 proposition. We all knew that
Hack-a-Dwight would happen at some point, and sure enough it did with about
four minutes left in the fourth quarter. Howard, who finished the night with
9 of 17, had a 0-for-4 stretch as Portland rallied. In a non Hack-a-Dwight
situation in overtime, Howard made one of two that could have given the
Rockets a bigger lead.

3. Shaq still doesn’t like Dwight. O’Neal, part of the TNT crew, likes to
rag on Howard and he was at it again on Sunday night. At least, this time,
Charles Barkley came a bit to Howard’s defense. Can’t wait for Game 2.

4. There is no ‘D’ in Jeremy Lin. That sounds harsh for all the other
things that Lin does off the bench. But with the way Damian Lillard went past
him a few times and the chance that Pat Beverley may be out with a knee
injury, the point guard matchup swings Portland’s way.

5. Remember Rudy T. The Rockets’ blowing a 10-point lead in the last five
minutes doesn’t quite equate with the infamous “Choke City” against the
Suns in the 1993-94 playoffs. Houston was up by 20 in that one. But
Tomjanovich reminded his Rockets to think of the things they did in getting
the lead, not worry about how they lost it. It worked that time as the
Rockets rallied from down 2-0 and went on to beat the Suns in Game 7 on their
way to the NBA title.
