A buzz hovered around the arena, long after Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash
dazzled the crowd with encouraging signs that their health has not failed
them.

Instead, Jeremy Lin took over the spotlight. You would not know if you just
glanced at the box score, his six missed field goals in the Lakers’ 98-95
preseason win Monday over Denver in San Diego sticking out like the torn
ligament in Nick Young’s right thumb. But Lin’s 10 assists reflected the
26-year-old guard’s success in bringing offensive clarity among an assorted
cast of role players.

當人們在為Kobe和Nash戰勝健康問題而歡欣時，林搶走了聚光燈，乍看之下0-6令人

“I just want to figure out how I can bring my strengths and apply it best to
this system,” Lin said. “It’s kind of like a chess match in learning and
figuring it out.”

The Lakers expect Lin to finish with the same efficiency as his last season
with Houston, where he shot 57.8 percent off drives, a statistic that only
trailed LeBron James. But with the Lakers losing Young as their top reserve
for about the next eight weeks, coach Byron Scott said Lin will become either
the first or second reserve to enter the game.

湖人期待他能有跟上季一樣能跟LBJ媲美的切入效率，在沒有Young的下個八週裡，
Byron說林將會是替補裡第一或第二選擇。


“Jeremy didn’t shoot the ball well,” Scott said, “but he did a great job
of orchestrating the offense and making great passes.”

Plenty of them went to Lakers forward Ed Davis, whose 12 points on 6-of-7
shooting featured him and Lin working off one another on pick-and-roll sets.
The chemistry worked so well that Scott has considered ensuring that the two
play together in future exhibition games.

“Sometimes you don’t always need to score or get as many assists,” Lin
said. “As long as you’re aggressive, something will open up.”
