Blasi accepts Parma switch                      Tuesday 1 July, 2003

Manuele Blasi has happily accepted being sent on loan to Parma just weeks after
signing for Juventus.

The midfielder arrived at the Delle Alpi from Perugia this summer but is now on
his way to the Gialloblu for a season after Stephan Appiah moved in the other
direction.

"My switch to Parma is good news even if no one has told me anything as of yet,"
said the former Under-21 ace.

"I know that Parma boss Claudio Prandelli has spoken highly of me and that is
pleasing. After all, he is one of the best coaches in Italy."
Blasi is rated as one of Italy's most promising youngsters but admits that he
would have found it tough to play regularly in Turin.

"Parma have some great players but the competition for places is not like it is
at Juventus," he added.

"I don't know whether I will automatically go into the first team but I should
be able to settle well.

"The fact that I know Daniele Bonera, Matteo Brighi and Matteo Ferrari – who I
shared a room with at Lecce – will help."

Appiah's move to Juventus was confirmed last night. The Bianconeri have
initially paid Parma ￡1.4m with an option to complete his signing next summer
by paying a further ￡4m.

The Tardini outfit have also received total ownership of Under-21 international
defender Emiliano Moretti, as well as the loan of Blasi.
