Nedved eyes Lippi gift Sunday 20 July, 2003

Juventus ace Pavel Nedved says he wants to win the Champions’ League for
boss Marcello Lippi.
The Bianconeri were defeated by Milan in the competition in May, which saw
the tactician lose his third successive European Cup Final.
"I didn’t sleep for days after that night at Old Trafford," said the Czech
star. "But then I realised that I must delete it out of my mind.
"One way to do that is to start the season with the objective of winning the
trophy for the Coach."
Nedved was missing from the Manchester showdown because of suspension, thanks
to his yellow card against Real Madrid in the semi-final.
"I will start the new campaign from that game," he added. "And I’m convinced
that we have the ability to get to the final again."
The midfielder was undoubtedly one of the best players on the continent last
season which has seen him touted as a contender for the 2003 Golden Ball.
"Being named as the European Footballer of the Year is definitely an
important honour but I’m not interested in it," he maintained. "I just want
to win with Juventus."
