http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/hey/story/0,4136,4862,00.html 'I almost got cramps in my neck' SICK of posing all day to shoot album covers, Kit Chan, 29, (right) decided to rope in her artist friend to paint her portrait on canvas instead. Little did she expect that lying still on a yoga mat while using her left hand to prop herself up would be tougher than striking 101 different poses. 'It's so painful to maintain the same pose! I had to tilt my head in a certain way, and exude that same air. 'After one minute, it started to hurt. I almost got cramps in my neck!' she said. The lack of air-conditioning in the studio made it worse. 'It was so hot, and there was no fan! I was sweating and my long skirt was sticky.' WEEKLY POSE Despite that, she would visit her friend, Namiko Chan's studio, along Portsdown Road, once a week, and pose for three hours each time. They would play either Kit's music or jazz, and take turns to massage each other's neck and shoulders. The painting, which took a month to complete, can now be found on the cover of her new album, Dreamscape, a half-English, half -Mandarin collection of chill-out music. It's the collaborative effort of several good friends, said Kit. She met The New Paper at Passion Hair at Palais Renaissance after getting her long, wavy hair styled. Take the orange and blue bohemian outfit she wore for the oil painting for example. It was made by a young designer whose creations are sold at Kit's boutique, Flowers In The Attic, at the Heeren. Three of the seven English songs were composed by her old school buddy 13 years ago! Songs Kit never had a chance to sing until now, because her earlier focus was on mainstream pop. Now that she has released her dream album of chill-out music, acted in dramas and musicals (she just played Empress Dowager Cixi in the Dick Lee musical, Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress), written a book of poems and just opened her second boutique at Plaza Singapura called Roses In The Loft, what is next? She pondered for a while, then beamed: 'Open a cafe! But that will have to wait until I'm freer.' Is marriage on the cards, too, since she has been dating the same mysterious guy for more than a year? All we know is that he is a Singaporean working in the finance sector, and is about six years older than her. Kit chuckled and said: 'That will also have to wait. I have my own clock and I'll know when the alarm rings.' Any plans for another oil painting? Maybe a nude one? 'Namiko and I have talked about it, and yes, I may do it,' she said with a smile, as if she has been asked the same question a dozen times. 'She has a preferance for women, because men are boring and don't have enough curves.' But she was quick to add that it will be only for her personal collection. 'Just something to remember my youth by,' she said. Kit's album, Dreamscape, is out in the stores -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.13.211.186 ※ 編輯: duffy 來自: 61.13.211.186 (10/30 09:33)
