Celebs Do Their Part for Quake Victims

In view of another massive 6.8 aftershock that struck central Taiwan
yesterday, several Hong Kong and Taiwan celebrities, instead of leaving
Taiwan, are flocking back there to hold charity events to raise money for
the quake relief fund.
Pop idol Andy Lau, who had contributed NT$1 million earlier, put the
filming for his new movie on hold and flew to Taiwan where he joined
his good friends Jacky Cheung and Anita Mui in a charity show. The
rendering of 'Moon Represents My Heart' by the Heavenly Kings and Queen
of Pop raised a massive amount of NT$30 million. Cheung later commented
that a total of NT$270 million was raised from that show.
Local singing sensation Kit Chan also rushed to Taiwan for a charity event
organized by a newspaper and TV program. Strongly supported by her family,
Chan felt the need to do something for the quake victims as many of her
friends are in Taiwan, and it was in Taiwan where she started her singing
career.
In the US, upon receiving news about the disaster from her LA home, Coco
Lee made a call to Taiwan and pledged NT$1 million to the relief fund.
She has also rallied other celebrities to helo the quake victims.

名藝人們為地震災民們盡心盡力

昨天，在中台灣發生了另一個規模6.8的921大地震的餘震後，數位香江及台灣的藝人並沒
有離開台灣，而是團結在一起，一起為台灣的災民們舉行了愛心義賣活動來籌款。
天王劉德華(他在稍早已捐出了一百萬元)，暫停了電影的拍攝工作，並且和張學友及梅
豔方飛來台灣一起參加了賑災義演。這首動人的「月亮代表我的心」，由重量級天王天
后一同和唱，共慕得了高達新台幣3000萬的款項。稍後張學友宣佈這場義演總共慕得了
新台幣2億7000萬元。
本地的唱將陳潔儀也趕到了台灣參加了由報紙與電視台合辦的義演。在家人大力支持下，
她覺得自己應該為災民和在台灣的朋友們做點事。而台灣正是她展開歌唱生涯的地方。
而在地球另一端的美國，洛杉機，一收到了台灣發生大地震的消息，歌手李玟馬上打了
電話到台灣，並且捐了新台幣100萬元到基金會。她也和其他藝人聯合幫忙災民。
