This paragraphs include contents that'd better not spread out.....but if it
really does...........that's OK.....
Yesterday, we had a class about English Literature Analysis. We talked
about Rasomon (a very famous Japanese old movies that talked much in America
instead of Taiwan) and a story wrote by Earnst Hemingway called "THE KILLER".
The teacher gave us sheets of hand-outs last week and we had read it before
the class.
So, in the class, we students talked to each other about the contents of
the novel as well as the difficulty of it. Some people described how hard and
how long they finish with it. So, some people ask me how long I took to read
it, and I'm such a humble boy so I answer two time of the real time (I said
40 minutes) then, you should take a look at the surprising looks on their....
"You read so fast...how did you do it...?"then I knew they all cost an hour...
That's OK, because reading speed represent nothing. But then, the teacher
came and asked some questions about the novel, like "who's the main role?"
"what's the main point of it?" "you can see them from where?" The teacher use
the means of rise hands to answer them. Ans to my surprisement, almost everyone
answer them but there were only 5/40 of the class who were right.......
How could they did ridiculous things like that? What's the difficulty of
point out the main figure and the main idea? They are in the English Department
of NCCU----the second best school for English studying!!!!!!!!! Isn't it the
basic ability of reading and comprehension an English paragraph? Slow is not
a problem---hard working will repair the lose of it. But how's comprehension?
After reading after so many times' reading they couldn't even understand it?
How come? If the problem's not that my English is really, very, very good,
then it's the problem of the NCCU-English-Department? I don't really want to
think about it seriously, but whenever something like this happen, I can't
help thinking about this........is it really like my relatives and friends
tell me that NCCU-English is not ...good enough...? It's a sad topic, really.

quality and quantity........
