Estate Sues Howard Mann
遺產公司控告J媽合作者
(20-1-2011) The Michael Jackson Estate has filed a lawsuit against Howard
Mann, the Canadian entrepreneur and business partner of the late singer's
mother, alleging that memorabilia created with her permission and other
commercial ventures constitutes "wholesale misappropriation" of the music
icon's intellectual property.

The suit, filed in federal court in Los Angeles on Thursday, accuses Mann of
"arrogant disregard" for the estate's rights and asks a judge to stop his
company, Vintage Pop Media, from further use of Jackson's name, image and
music.

estate, when in fact it is neither."

The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, as well as the defendants'
profits.

The filing of the lawsuit finally moves this dispute - which has long
simmered in the press - into the courthouse. The estate has already cracked
down on a number of unlicensed vendors, but not Mann; presumably because of
his business relationship with Jackson's mother, Katherine.

The matriarch, 80, is not mentioned in the estate's lawsuit however, she told
The Times last month that she was working with Mann because she needed more

approximately $7,000. Mann said then that he had paid her "hundreds of
thousands of dollars."
